Local creator, Liz from Sew Taylor Made Designs, uses beautiful Japanese fabrics to handcraft bags such as handbags, totes and knot bags, and accessories including pencil cases, bookmarks and hair ties. At MakeFest participants will be able make their own buttons or hair ties from Japanese fabrics.

I’ve always loved creating and making things, and that’s developed as I’ve travelled. STMD began in 2019 with me making and designing felt brooches and ornaments, which I still sell. A friend introduced me to Japanese fabrics and I started using them in my work as they are beautiful and classic in themselves, feel lovely, and are a joy to work with. All the products in my store are handmade by me with love and care using quality materials.
The designs I use are often influenced by traditional and contemporary Japanese designs, which I think are classic but stylish. When I’m not at my sewing machine I can often be found baking or engaged in other crafts including sashiko, crochet (I’m currently making a blanket) and cross-stitch.
